The central question of this course concerns the management issues that arise from these dynamics. It is intended to service those students who have a real interest in managing in the arts and cultural sector. However, for those students who wish to discover the sector and to test their interest, this is also a useful course.

This course examines Canadian arts and cultural policy. Topics include the historical development of cultural policy; the formulation and execution of municipal, provincial and federal policies; and current issues and strategies for the future in the arts and cultural industries.

The course has a research focus. Prerequisite: ARTM 3. This course will explore the dynamics of different perspectives on the human and economic resources involved in the production, distribution and support of the arts and cultural products in Canada.
