I converted to Islam 3 months ago. It was a long process. I was raised Christian and had to learn a bit about the religion but my best teacher was my wife and her family. What was most challenging for me was converting to Islam and getting myself to a point where I was confident enough in the relationship to bring this to my parents but they took the news well because they love my wife. This year is my first Ramadan as a Muslim and at first, it was a little difficult trying to get used to it but as the days go by, it has been getting easier and easier.

I also have a ten year old son from my previous marriage and we have told him that he has to choice whether or not to embrace Islam whenever he is ready. I was born into a Christian family but my family was not very religious so I was only Christian by name you could say. It was only when I came to Dubai that I came to know about Islam. The thing which attracted me to Islam was the attitude of Muslims and their understanding of the purpose of life and how they treat their families.

It actually took around two and a half years. My name is Slava and I am from south west Russia. I was Christened as a Russian orthodox. I went to church maybe once or twice in my life.

I was on the Church services comity at school and singing in the choir. The thing that attracted me the most to Islam and I repeat this time and time again because everyone asks me is, that it just makes sense not only overall but at that specific time, it just made perfect sense to me.

My name is Zahira and I am 52 years old and I have been Muslim for around 20 years. I am British and was born in England. I took myself to Church for the Choir because I like singing. I used to bike ride a lot and started to take notice of creation such as the trees, the birds etc and began to fall in love with creation and understood that there must be a Creator, that there must be a God who made all of this. It was like a clear window had been opened for me. Nothing was confusing for me about Islam.

It was One God and everything else is His creation. This is what I had been searching for. I spoke to a couple in London who ended up giving me my shahada. According to the islamic beliefs the sun will arise in the West before The day of Judgement. Those people are too close to the truth but they do not want to admit it. Thank you so much for this site. This has helped me tremedously in learning of my faith. I recently recited the shahada and I am proud to say I am a muslim sister now. I am still learning. I have not started to wear my hijab yet but hopefully in the next week I will learn how to wear it.

I thank Allah most merciful for everything in my life everyday the five times im required and occasionally at the middle of the night. I am still learning how to pray the correct way. It is very hard due to not knowing any arabic so for now I am saying my surahs in english, but I will be attending university where I will be learning arabic and getting involved with more of my muslim sisters and brothers through school.
