This happens only on this specific Windows PC. All other pc's with the exact same setup work just fine. When I use the same credentials on a different windows pc connection to the linux server, the connection succeeds and I gain full access. Check to make sure that SMB 1. Go down the list and make sure SMB 1.
I guess you get the same response to your user and password whether you use a connection via a mapped drive or Networks in File Explorer. I properly share my folders per user access then map the shared folders to each windows pc which require access. It is just this 1 windows pc which continually refuse to connect after multiple setting changes and reboots.
It is not a credentials nor a file share issue. I've read other posts on here that seem to have similar problems and never read a definitive fix. I made a note of one in case it affect my Windows 10 PC, make sure these Services are started and running.
Hi there, I have a windows 10 pc connecting to a linux file server. I can confirm that the samba user details are correct. Regardless of the username I use to access the files, it always fails with the above error. If so, set a trivial password you can change it later using smbpasswd benjamin if user benjamin is not listed, try to recreate it issuing smbpasswd -a benjamin if it does not work, delete the passwd file it is named passwd.
Then, recreate your user issuing smbpasswd -a benjamin if it still not working, try to use the root account issuing smbpasswd -a root and check if you can login using the root user. Note: this is only a try. After having done with it, you must delete root's entry issuing smbpasswd -x root Your last resort is to increase the verbosity of logging and see if you can find clues there.
