Random minimizing windows 8

Fat Dragon , Nov 27, Okay, I noticed over the last couple days that the clock's always at x when this occurs. Does that bring any ideas out of the woodwork? Fat Dragon , Nov 30, Never seen that happen, and I've put in plenty of time on Borderlands 2 on my Vaio F2 running Windows 8. Mitlov , Dec 1, Gotta be a software or driver issue I'm guessing - something that's set to occur every hour at minutes - but I have no idea what it could be.

I've noticed it is indeed occurring on fullscreen videos as well - something I didn't recall before. Essentially anything fullscreen gets minimized every hour. Not the end of the world, being a PC user for so many years I've put up with worse on every system I've ever used, but still a bit of a headache.

I might poke around in application settings or ask at a dedicated Windows 8 forum Fat Dragon , Dec 1, Do you have any sort of clock desktop gadgets installed, or auto-maintenance scheduled? Mitlov , Dec 2, Originally Posted by Rohne.

Start stripping any and all other programs in the background to see what wants your attention. It's the only real way to find the culprit. I'm guessing it's one of the metro apps for weather. If the game is fullscreen, it minimizes itself. If the game is not fullscreen, the window will become inactive. I have nothing running in the background to pop up and cause it to minimize. Last edited by Daggo; at AM. Sorry but I meant to say make sure your in Full screen not windowed full screen there are 3 options there.

I've tried all the obvious stuff. Sorry I tried to edit my last post but it seems you only get a few minutes to dot it. You have to have something running in the back ground taking focus. Logged in few mins ago. Game still auto minimizes every second to the desktop.

My char was disappeared. Sorry for bad words but this kind of "service" is trash. Thursday, April 24, AM. Thursday, April 24, PM. Robert Aldwinckle I appreciate your input on here as MS themselves are conspicuous by their absence, but I fail to see how multiple different hardware platforms can simultaneously start to manifest the same problem independently.

While I am new to this forum I am not new to computers, I agree with everyone that the glitch is with the OS. Both with SSD's. Both have Windows 8. I have the same problem on BOTH pc's. Completely different hardware SAME problem.

Plenty of RAM in both and resources are normal. It drives me crazy as it happens randomly without warning. And only when I reboot or re-login after timeout. So please stop saying its hardware related. Or keystroke related. There is nothing sticking on my keyboards and I didn't have the issue with Windows 8. Microsoft aside from the Metro screen Windows 8 and 8.

I love the apps that help me monitor my entire server infrastructure as well as help me relax ie games and puzzles I'm no fanboy and thoroughly kicked around 8 before I made the switch. There is an issue inside the OS if you don't have a fix yet please just say so and work on it. But don't blame the hardware THAT is typical fanboy crap!!!

I have been doing this for a long time and have installed every version of Microsoft starting with 98 hundreds of times including the dreaded vista. I have never seen this happen and all of my hardware drivers are up to date as well.

Please have something constructive to add. Don't just point to the hardware. It makes you sound foolish!!! Monday, April 28, AM. Another user here with same issue. I've yet to see it do it when I'm browsing, but when I play WoW, Skyrim, or any other game, it does minimize by itself.

At first I thought it was my WoW because I recently downloaded a new client for the game and noticed the windowing. However, after playing some Skyrim, and reading these threads, it is definitely the 8. Please Microsoft release an update or patch to fix this. I know they are just games that its interrupting for me, but they don't pause when this happens and frankly this seems to be a very common issue. Thursday, May 1, PM. Friday, May 2, PM. Almost a couple of weeks since I disabled ioBit's boot to the Desktop, and the problem hasn't happened again.

I'm booting into Metro then changing to the desktop. Since others are now saying that they get the problem without the ioBit software installed, could it - somehow - be related to any means of booting straight to the desktop? Anyway, this is obviously not a hardware issue. Monday, May 5, AM. I also got that problem that when im playing games and not on the internet, however when im on the internet and watching series or movies on fullscreen, every 10min the fullscreen closes down, i timed it its always 10min.

Sunday, May 11, PM. Will someone at Microsoft fix this in the next update!!! Thursday, May 15, AM. Saturday, May 17, PM. How do i go about installing this ioBit? Being that windows 8 did not have this problem until 8. As i play League of Legends and Diablo 3 and games that you need to have constant awareness this issue is really annoying, and ridiculous that it has not been presented a solution for.

Friday, June 6, AM. I would love a temp solution until MS fixes this Do you have a second monitor? Of course there is software functionality related to the reported symptom. My question is: caused by what? Monday, June 30, PM. Just for reference, it doesn't do this on every system. It's a bug or malware. It happens on my desktop but not my laptop. Hopefully we'll get a response sometime.

Edited by ssurjap Sunday, July 6, PM. Sunday, July 6, PM. Edited by sem Tuesday, July 8, PM. Tuesday, July 8, PM. I'm having the same issue. It seems to happen on all my systems with multi-monitors. I have a slightly different variation than most of what i read in this thread. Mine will not happen periodically based on some time interval.

Tuesday, August 5, PM. Check [ ] Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen. Open the Performance Options panel. Uncheck [ ] Enable Peek. I agree. I have re-imaged several times, and with nothing else loaded on the system I've had this problem. Multi-monitors, when I'm dragging a window, everything minimizes. Friday, August 29, PM.

I never had this bug nor on my laptop or desktop Old post but try this. Thursday, October 16, PM. The values you can choose from are: 0: Disable SuperFetch 1: Cache applications only 2: Cache boot files only 3: Cache everything default Also set the same option as you did for SuperFetch to the entry "Enable Prefetch".

Wednesday, December 10, AM. Scour the system for malware, Billy. Or ask Grandma not to accidentally use Alt-Tab to show the desktop.

I think you are correct This just started happening to me, and in my case it was a program from Xfinity called Constant Guard or Fast connect. Wednesday, December 10, PM. I had the same problem of frequent random minimizing of all MS applications and my browser. I removed Constant Guard, which recently morphed into Fast Connect, just a half hour ago and the problem disappeared!

I'll report back when I'm done. Thursday, December 11, AM. Thursday, December 11, PM. Uninstalling the program and answering YES solve the issue. Thanks for your understanding. Absolutely the problem is with fast connect Constant Guard automatic upgrade. I noticed this problem today morning and was searching this forum, unfortunately I didn't go through entire forum to find the solution, spent an hour and figured out that a exe file automator was causing the problem and on found it is associated to the newly installed Fast connect.
